Just a reminder that presale of badges ends May 1. Also individual event tickets start sale on May 1. A list of events may be found here:

http://community.gencon.com/files/24/default.aspx

I don't know the prices of individual events, though this should become more clear on May 1st.

Any more word on the Dragons Landing Inn meetup?

See you all at the convention! I'll be playing RPGA and learning some Hackmaster!

Events are $1.50/2 hours, so most RPG events are $3.00 and are 4 hours long.

Be sure about what you register for this year...they changed the return policy and tickets are no longer 100% refundable. For a couple bucks in the face of all the other costs it might not matter, but something to keep in mind.

I apologize for the error in my above post. You must have purchased your GenCon badge when events go on sale May 1.

Sorry Chuck and Lonnie to give you wrong information for the podcast.

On a side note, the True Dungeon sold out very very quickly. I won't be trying this out again this year.

Edit: I was without the internet for over a wek, finally listening to Episode 41 now on Thursday (5/4) so I didn't notice may mistake until now.

Do we have any tentative plans for a DLI get-together anywhere at or near the con?

I've never been to one before, so I don't know the layout of the convention center or any of the surrounding bars or restaurants.

Is anyone bringing any digital recording equipment?

How about notebook computers that could be used to upload text and audio recaps of the day's events onto the feed?

That would be pretty cool. There are any number of places we could meet at. Unfortunately, with the amount of people we're talking about, we'd have to figure out some place that could accomodate us all.

There are any number of fine restaurants around, including the RAM Brewery, which has a fine selection of extremely good food.

The Hard Rock Cafe has also been very cordial to us gamers in the past.

Just down the street from the convention center is the Circle Centre Mall, and they have a food court, but it closes in the early evening.

There's a fountain and courtyard across from the convention center, right next to an ice-rink (for hockey) I believe.

There are any number of places we could set up a meet. Perhaps a nice map would be nice.

Here's one ... http://www.indydt.com/dtmap.html. In fact, this website is probably the definitive place to find info about Indy.

It might also be considered that we could meet in a hotel lobby or some such, depending on how many people are going to Gen Con.

That begs the question ... how many of us are going to be at Gen Con this year?

This'll be my 10 year anniversary going to Gen Con, so I've been to Indy a few times for Gen Con.

I have a few questions about that 10am Friday podcasting gaming seminar.

First up, are Chuck & Lonnie on the panel? I thought I heard that they were, but I don't know.

Second, is there any reason that anyone can think of that the event is listed twice for the exact same time in the event registration area? I worry that it's going to get overbooked, since each version of the event shows that 200 slots are up for grabs, and people are signing up for each of the two events.

Third, is there any listing of who's on the panel? Or if there actually is a panel? Is this something I should spend time attending instead of gaming?

Yes, Chuck and Lonnie are on the panel. As is the Mad Three from Gamer The Podcasting, those fine folks at Yog Radio (Paul of Cthulhu and his crew), as well as Monkeyboy Mick, I believe. I think the All Games Considered guys will be there, too. I believe it is a panel. If I make a mistake, correct me, Chuck and Lonnie .. or just sacrifice me to Bob, The Mighty.

As far as the same event being posted twice, direct that question to customerservice@gencon.com. They usually get that sort of thing fixed within a day or two.

Which event, pray-tell, is listed twice, by the way? Maybe I can make heads or tails of it?

I think it is listed as "SEM00036" and "SEM00039."

The data for these two listings is identical, down to the time, title, and description. But there are two different event codes. I feel that this does not bode well, unless there really are two separate seminars going on in two different rooms with different panels. In that case, I'd be bummed if I ended up in the wrong one.

Hmmm. Not sure what to make of that one. I'm signed up for the SEM00036 one. I'll send an e-mail and post to the Gen Con forums about this one and get back to you.

Hey, I was thinking, we should all try to wear buttons with our forum avatars on them.

You can go to your local arts & crafts store and buy a snap-together button for less than two dollars, and just put a printout of your avatar on it, maybe with your forum username on a similar button right next to it.

What a great way that would be for us to identify each other!

Of course, wearing a Dragon's Landing tshirt would be even better, but who's going to wear one of those every day?

You know what, I was thinking that, too.

It would be pretty easy to get buttons made with the badge graphic on them, or, if we wanted to be more ridiculous, buy some cheap plastic toy badges (like those party favor ones that are like ten for a buck) and then stick the DLI Secret Service logo on it using a color laser printer and full-sheet sticky labels and some careful scissors work.

I'd be willing to make those and hand them out to my fellow DLI forumites at the con once we hook up.

I'll keep my eye out for cheap toy badges, like at Party City or the Dollar Store.

You've never been to Gen Con, have you? There are people who go that may never leave their (Mother's) house except once a year ... Gen Con. Oh, and many do not bathe, let alone change clothes.

I'd be 100% willing to help out with that. Of course, being the Director myself, I may have to pony up come cash and make a polo shirt with the badge printed on it from CafePress ...

Perhaps ... yes ...

Of course, Chuck and Lonnie could just use CafePress to make buttons for people (using the DLSS badge). They could then go ahead and post it on the CafePress store and we could buy them from Dragon's Landing, doing our part to fund their Gen Con trip ...

Image

CafePress allows people to order one button at a time ($2.25 including S&H), ten at a time ($14 including S&H), or 100 at a time ($79 including S&H).

I'd vote for Chuck and Lonnie to put them in their CafePress store, that way we can get our badges, and give them money, too.
